I am very excited to begin work as the new Interim Superintendent of Schools in Barre this summer! I have had a highly rewarding career as both a teacher and school leader in Barre, and I've spent fifteen of my over thirty years as an educator serving this community in a variety of roles. Assuming the superintendency is giving me a tremendous opportunity to give back to a district that has had so much impact on me during my career. Starting off as a high school social studies teacher and moving on to running alternative programs and schools early in my career, I have since had the opportunity to serve as a building leader at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in both Montpelier and Barre since 2006. My hope is that these diverse experiences serve me and the students and families of the Barre district well for years to come.
I live with my family in a close knit and beautiful neighborhood near downtown Montpelier, and my 19 year old twin daughters will be starting their sophomore years of college, in person, this fall. To stay healthy and keep my mind clear, I am an avid reader who regularly works out at the gym, plays baseball in the Vermont Senior League, and, when time allows, participates in various community theater productions. A well balanced life is important to me, and I hope to model this approach to my work to all of my colleagues in the years ahead.
