I am very excited to announce a summer program for students that is part of our Barre 35: Growing Learners & Closing Gaps plan. We have been working for months on a cooperative effort with BUUSD educators and the Greater Burlington YMCA to offer a robust summer camp for students who are currently enrolled in kindergarten up to students who are twelve years old.
Our camp will be located on our Barre Town campus and will start on July 6th and run through August 6th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Campers will follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. Our camp will have engaging themes like Fantastic Worlds and Travel Through Time. Transportation and meals will be included. Students with academic needs will be supported by BUUSD educators while they are attending camp. This camp combines the best of both worlds!
The best part of this news is that we will be using Federal recovery funds to offer this camp to qualified students in need at no cost. BUUSD is receiving a substantial amount of funding through recovery acts that are designed to offer summer opportunities and a wide variety of academic supports. While this camp is focused on younger students, we are also working on summer opportunities for older students through high school. Information about camp registration will be sent to families by the end of April. We will be focusing on students with academic needs and then open enrollment to all students as space is available.
Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks!
